The study they cite says the nat’l guard in DC caused overall crime to drop 24%, gunshots to drop 45%, 911 calls to drop 20%, etc; & this is likely an underestimate of its effect (see next post). & DC’s 2026 homicide rate is on track to be *1/3* of its avg during the Biden years. 
In 2025 DC’s head prosecutor (Biden appointee focused on 1/6) & its police brass—chief & 13 other top officials—were replaced (huge scandal re: falsely downgrading 1000s of serious violent crime as eg misdemeanors or property crime). So effect harder to see, but signs are there… 
If you’ve been systematically falsifying serious crimes to make the problem look less bad before an intervention, you’ll underestimate the intervention; likewise improvement began with Trump in early 2025, before the August occupation, but that still noticeably helped. & so forth
