UNREAL BREAKING: NPR reports Justice Alito retiring, then RETRACTS IT
NPR just reported on their website that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is retiring, with the article by one of their top legal affairs reporters, Nina Totenberg.
But then ten minutes later they pulled the article, saying it was published in error. Woops!
Oh boy. NPR reported that Justice Alito was retiring, then retracted it 10 minutes later, saying it was “published in error.” pic.twitter.com/ljqd9udn9a

This is going to generate quite a bit of controversy, especially given that Alito is 76. Honestly, it would make sense that Alito might retire while President Trump still has plenty of time to replace him, especially before the midterms. But who knows if this is just speculation by NPR or based on some insider knowledge.
UPDATE: The Supreme Court has already responded:
JUST IN: #SCOTUS spokesperson knocks down withdrawn NPR report that Alito has retired. "NPR's reporting regarding Justice Alito is inaccurate. And their reporting that there was any kind of court statement is inaccurate." — Patricia McCabe, Supreme Court spokesperson
