‘We’re Literally Going to Take Over Washington, DC’: Dana White Previews UFC Event at White House - 🔔 The Liberty Daily
(DCNF)—UFC President Dana White appeared on Fox News Friday to share new details about an upcoming event at the White House.
President Donald Trump told supporters in July that he plans to host a UFC championship fight on the White House grounds next year as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. White revealed on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that the UFC’s upcoming White House event will feature a festival-style atmosphere, complete with live bands, outdoor seating, giant screens, and fans sprawled across the South Lawn to watch the fights.
“We’re going to have a stage, where music, you know, we’ll have bands playing all day and then people will be able to bring blankets and, you know, lay around and watch the fights. We’ll have screens up everywhere for everybody,” White said. “We’re literally going to take over Washington, D.C. that week. We’re going to do the weigh-ins there. We’re going to have the weigh-in events. And we’ll have fan events all week. We’re going to do our expo there and just a total Washington, D.C. takeover.”
White said Trump personally pitched the idea of staging a UFC fight at the White House.
“Literally, one day he [Trump] asked me, you know, he loves the White House. He’s so proud of the White House, and he wants to bring the American people back to the White House with lots of different events, and he said, ‘How’d you like to do a fight at the White House?’ He didn’t have to ask me twice. I was in,” White said.
White said the UFC is still finalizing seating for the White House event.
“We’re still playing with that. It’s going to be under 5,000 people. It depends on how much the lawn can hold as far as weight. Like the octagon itself weighs 15,000 pounds, so we don’t know. We’re still working it out, and my vision for this thing is we have this big arch, as you can see, with the lighting grid, because what I want is the White House on the back, and then when you shoot, when the fight goes around to the other side, you’ll see the Washington Monument.” White added.
White said Trump initially tapped Ivanka Trump to oversee planning for the event and added that, beyond the South Lawn setup, the Ellipse will host a massive viewing party capable of accommodating up to 85,000 fans.
“He [Trump] put Ivanka in charge of handling this thing and putting it together, and when we sent the plans over to Ivanka, she said, ‘Dana, you do not mess around,” White said. “Yeah, we can fit 85,000 people over there.”
Trump has maintained close ties with White, who actively campaigned for him during the 2024 election. Over the years, Trump has shown up at multiple fight nights, drawing raucous ovations and chants of “USA” from the crowd. When he attended UFC 309 in November after his election victory, fans roared as he entered the arena alongside top officials, including Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
