"That's Assassination Prep Language!": Journalist Shuts Down Democrat Representative Over Violent Rhetoric - đ The Liberty Daily
(DCNF)âThe Federalistâs Brianna Lyman went head-to-head with Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman of New York on live TV Wednesday, blasting him for twisting facts about a Minnesota politicianâs murder and calling President Donald Trump a âfascist.â
ICE facilities in Chicago and Portland, Oregon have been the scene of multiple riots targeting the agency amid the administrationâs crackdown on illegal immigration, prompting Trump to deploy the National Guard to protect federal property. During a heated exchange on âCNN NewsNightâ over the move, Goldman clashed with Lyman and âJust Rightâ host Phil Williams, claiming host Abby Phillip was âfact-checkingâ the two conservatives before denouncing Trump as a âfascist.â
âYouâre not going to sit here and fact-check us when you spread the Russia collusion hoax, come on!â Lyman said, prompting Goldman to respond, âI didnât actually fact-check you. Abby did.â
After some back and forth, Williams pointed out the Biden administrationâs record on the border.
WATCH:âYouâre absolutely on the wrong side â youâre on the wrong side of history on all of this, and you know it. Youâre on the absolute wrong side of history. Your party ruined the border control policies of this â of this nation. You let 11 to 12 to 13 million people stream across the border. And now weâre dealing with it. And you donât want [to] deal with the fact that we have to deal with that,â Williams told Goldman, who responded, âI guarantee you, I can guarantee you, that you are on the wrong side of history because this President is authoritarian and he is a fascist.â
âThat is assassination prep language,â Lyman shot back in response to the rhetoric. Goldman tried to walk it back as Lyman cut him off, accusing him of using language that justifies violence.
Goldman started to object that calling Trump a fascist doesnât incite violence, but Phillip cut in and played a clip of Trump calling then-Vice President Kamala Harris a âMarxistâ and âfascist.â
âLook, I respect the âboth sidesâ attempt right here right now, but I think in the current political climate â in the current political climate, when the political violence has been directed to one side, which is to my side, the right side-â Lyman said before Goldman interrupted, âNo, itâs not.â
âOh, itâs not? Did Charlie Kirk just get assassinated a month ago on the today?â Lyman shot back, while Williams also mentioned Kirk and an attack on an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas.
Goldman then tried to bring up the murders of Democratic State Rep. Melissa Hortman of Minnesota and her husband.
âBy a guy who had a flag that said, âNo Kings,â or flyers that said, âNo Kings?â Who was appointed by Tim Walz?â Lyman shot back.
The accused killer of Hortman claimed he was acting on behalf of Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota in a letter to the FBI, according to the New York Daily News.
âBrianna, listen. Thereâs a more fundamental issue here. Itâs not about both sides. Itâs actually about whether youâre asserting that using certain words is essentially violence,â Phillip claimed. âAnd Iâm trying to argue to you that if youâre going to apply that standard to Congressman Goldman, you got to apply it to Donald Trump. And if you donât apply it to Donald Trump and you donât think that thatâs violence, then I donât understand how this works.â
âAbby, I donât know if maybe you werenât listening to what I just said. I just said itâs unacceptable for no matter who it is to call someone else a fascist,â Lyman responded. âAnd let me explain the assassination prep language. When people hear the word fascist, Nazi, Hitler, you rightfully think of people in the 1940s who had to be defeated by any means necessary because of what they were doing to this world.â
âSo, when you call someone like Charlie Kirk, when you call someone like Speaker Gilbert, like Jay Jones, who I donât know if your viewers know this because it hasnât been discussed on this show in four days,â Lyman continued, closing with emphasis. âWhen the attorney general candidate in Virginia is calling for two bullets to the head for Speaker Gilbert and calling his little children fascists, you are implicitly justifying resistance by any means necessary.â
