President Trump’s tariffs have been wildly successful at not only bringing other countries to the negotiating table, but also at generating revenue the nation hasn’t seen in ages. But they’re being threatened by the Supreme Court and Congress with a future that is currently in limbo.

To generate public support for maintaining his tariff authority, the president took to Truth Social to make a promise to the American people:

People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price. 401k’s are Highest EVER. We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion. Record Investment in the USA, plants and factories going up all over the place. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone

Wow. It’s a bold move. Not only would Americans benefit from the windfall, but the economy itself would be bolstered by increased spending. And while there are questions about how he can pay down the national debt and still have money left over for what could be half-a-trillion dollars in dividends, we remain hopeful that it can happen.
