MTG Swats Away Joy Behar's Attempt at Getting Her to Become Democrat - đź”” The Liberty Daily
(DCNF)—Former Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene did not give in to “The View” co-host Joy Behar’s attempts on Wednesday to convince her to become a Democrat.
Greene, who resigned from Congress on Monday, stated during her second appearance on the program that politicians should focus on improving affordability to ease Americans’ worries, leading Behar to argue that she is using Democratic talking points. The former congresswoman pointed out that Democrats were in power when inflation and illegal border crossings rose to record-highs.

“Well, actually, Joy, I’ll put you back on that. It’s Democrats and Republicans together that have put us in nearly $40 trillion in debt. I don’t support a border invasion that caused fentanyl deaths in my district. It’s my understanding [that] 280% skyrocketed. People like Laken Riley were murdered because our border was invaded. I don’t support those policies,” Greene said.
Behar argued that Democratic presidents have handled the economy significantly better than their Republican counterparts, which Greene disputed by pointing out that the U.S. was $33 trillion in debt when Biden left office.
“You know, every time a Democratic president leaves office we’re in a surplus and then when a Republican leaves we’re in we’re in a deficit,” Behar continued.
“That is absolutely false,” Greene pushed back. “Joe Biden left office and we were 33 trillion dollars in debt. And what is it now? And the budget, the Congress, the Democrat-controlled Congress, under Nancy Pelosi, spent trillions and trillions of dollars. Now, it’s gone up even more. I’ve said both parties. I’m the one saying both parties. You’re the one defending the Democrat Party.”
A non-partisan study estimated that Biden approved $4.7 trillion in new ten-year debt during his term in office, according to the Committee for a Responsible Budget. Many economists blamed the soaring inflation on the Biden administration spending $1.9 trillion and $750 billion on the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, two pieces of legislation passed at the beginning of his administration.
President Donald Trump is believed to have added an estimated $8.4 trillion to the national deficit in his first term, according to the Committee for a Responsible Budget.
Prices rose more than 20% during Biden’s term in office, jumping from 1.4% at the beginning of Biden’s presidency to its peak of 9.1% in June 2022. In April, inflation fell to a four-year low.
Border crossings exceeded 2 million and 3 million throughout Biden’s administration, and later dropped to record low numbers once Trump reentered office. The Trump administration’s hawkish border policies led to the lowest number of border crossings ever recorded.
