A Founding Force Behind Ubisoft
Claude Guillemot was one of the five Guillemot brothers who founded Ubisoft in 1986.
What began as a small software distribution business eventually grew into one of the largest video game publishers in the world, producing globally recognized franchises including Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and numerous Tom Clancy titles.
While his brother, Yves Guillemot, became the public face of the company as chief executive officer, Claude played a significant role behind the scenes during Ubisoft’s formative years.
Industry observers have credited the Guillemot family with helping build a company that successfully navigated decades of technological change while remaining one of the dominant forces in the gaming industry.
Claude Guillemot also served as President of Guillemot Corporation, a separate company founded by the family.

Legacy Beyond the Gaming Industry
The Guillemot brothers built Ubisoft from a small regional operation into a multinational gaming powerhouse with offices and studios around the globe.
Their strategy of investing heavily in original intellectual property and in-house development helped establish Ubisoft as one of the industry’s most influential publishers.
Over nearly four decades, the company became responsible for some of the most successful video game franchises ever created, reaching hundreds of millions of players worldwide.
For the Guillemot family, however, the loss is far more personal than corporate.
Five brothers launched Ubisoft together in 1986.
Following Claude Guillemot’s death, four remain.
As investigators work to determine exactly what caused Friday’s fatal crash, tributes are already pouring in from colleagues, industry figures, and members of the global gaming community who credit Guillemot with helping shape modern video gaming.
