Twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is again railing against the Electoral College, calling the constitutional system that helped cost her the presidency in 2016 an “abomination.”

Clinton made the remark in a trailer for a new Netflix docuseries, “The American Experiment,” which marks 250 years of American independence.

The five-part series was executive-produced by Tom Hanks.

“Well, I personally think the Electoral College is an abomination. For obvious reasons,” Clinton says in the trailer.

Clinton Renews Attack on Electoral College

Clinton has repeatedly attacked the Electoral College since losing the 2016 presidential election to President Donald Trump.

Although Clinton won the national popular vote in 2016, Trump won several key swing states and secured the Electoral College victory that sent him to the White House.

In her 2017 memoir “What Happened,” Clinton blasted the system as “the god-forsaken Electoral College.”

During an interview with CNN host Anderson Cooper, Clinton again called for the Electoral College to be abolished, describing it as “an anachronism that was designed for another time” that “no longer works.”

“We’ve moved toward one person, one vote, that’s how we select winners,” Clinton said, adding, “I think it needs to be eliminated, I’d like to see us move beyond it.”

Clinton raised the issue again before the 2024 election, when former Vice President Kamala Harris was running against Trump.

“We are the underdog, that just kind of goes with the territory when we have the Electoral College staring at you,” Clinton said in an interview with The 19th.

Trump went on to defeat Harris in both the Electoral College and the popular vote.

Netflix Series Features Democrats Attacking Founding System

In addition to Clinton, the Netflix docuseries features interviews with politicians and historians, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Vice President Al Gore, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) also criticizes the Electoral College in the trailer.

Lofgren says “the founders themselves were not in love with the Electoral College” and that “it was defective from the beginning.”

“We have a problem that a minority of the population, because of the structure of the Electoral College — in some cases, over the objections of the majority — is ruling the majority,” Lofgren says.

The push to abolish the Electoral College has gained support on the left, especially after Clinton’s 2016 loss to Trump.

Director Says Clinton Discussed ‘Painful’ 2016 Loss

Director Brian Knappenberger discussed Clinton’s appearance in the series during an interview with Variety.

“I knew I would be asking former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton about one of the most painful moments of her life,” Knappenberger said.

“She has rarely spoken candidly about that election night, and we’re really happy she talked about it for the series,” Knappenberger said.

He added that Clinton “has a unique perspective as one of only five people in American history to lose the presidency after winning the popular vote.”

“The 2016 election also stands out because Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump in the popular vote by such a significant margin,” Knappenberger said.

The series arrives as Democrats continue targeting the Electoral College, a constitutional safeguard that gives states a central role in choosing the president rather than allowing a handful of heavily populated liberal areas to dominate national elections.
