American Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Communism & DSA, New Poll Shows - Slay News
A new national poll found that American voters remain overwhelmingly hostile to communism and socialism, even as the Democratic Socialists of America expands its influence within the Democrats.
The survey from Echelon Insights found that voters strongly favored free-market ideas while giving deeply negative ratings to communism, socialism, and the DSA.
Free Markets Remain Popular
A free-market economy received a 53% favorable rating and a 12% unfavorable rating, producing a net favorability rating of plus 41.
- Advertisement -Capitalism was viewed favorably by 49% of respondents and unfavorably by 29%, giving it a net rating of plus 20.
The Make America Healthy Again movement received a 39% favorable rating and a 33% unfavorable rating, while social democracy was viewed favorably by 36% and unfavorably by 31%.
The findings indicate that voters continue to prefer market-oriented economic policies despite broad dissatisfaction with both major political parties and many prominent political figures.
Communism Records Overwhelmingly Negative Rating

Just 5% of respondents viewed communism favorably, while 78% viewed it unfavorably, producing a net rating of negative 73.
Socialism also performed poorly, receiving a 23% favorable rating and a 52% unfavorable rating for a net score of negative 29.
The Democratic Socialists of America received a 25% favorable rating and a 46% unfavorable rating, giving the organization a net rating of negative 21.

President Donald Trump received a 38% favorable rating and a 61% unfavorable rating. Vice President JD Vance was viewed favorably by 39% and unfavorably by 53%.
MAGA received a 32% favorable rating and a 57% unfavorable rating.

DSA Expands Influence Inside Democratic Party
The polling comes as the Democratic Socialists of America seeks to consolidate power within the Democrat Party through victories in low-turnout local elections.
DSA politicians and leaders have openly called for dismantling capitalism and advancing revolutionary political change.
- Advertisement -Hasan Piker, a prominent socialist commentator associated with the movement, has also amplified inflammatory rhetoric calling to “kill capitalists.”
The organization’s rise has alarmed establishment Democrats who fear that socialism and revolutionary rhetoric could damage the party in future elections.
The poll underscores the political danger of that strategy.
While dissatisfaction with both major parties remains high, communism and socialism are significantly less popular than either party.

Nate Silver’s January 2026 pollster ratings awarded Echelon Insights an A- rating and projected that the firm would outperform the average polling organization.
Echelon also recorded an average polling error of approximately two percentage points during the 2024 election cycle.
The firm’s latest results suggest that attempts to persuade mainstream voters to embrace class struggle, anti-capitalism, and revolutionary politics will face overwhelming resistance.
Foreign Influence Concerns Grow
The DSA’s expanding role has also drawn scrutiny over possible connections to foreign influence and subversion networks tied to Cuba and China.
A former adviser to President Bill Clinton recently called for investigations into the organization in a Wall Street Journal op-ed.
Federal officials are increasingly examining whether elements of the DSA’s revolutionary movement are connected to foreign networks seeking to undermine the United States.
The organization is betting that it can persuade enough Americans and migrants to support class conflict and systemic revolution.
The polling suggests that most voters remain firmly opposed.
