Passport photos are one of life’s most annoying humiliations.

You walk into CVS looking perfectly normal, stand under the world’s most unflattering lighting, and leave with a picture that makes you look like you were just arrested by Interpol for smuggling fresh fruit into Europe.

Nobody likes these pictures because nobody looks good in them. And the worst part is you have to carry that terrible photo around for the next ten years as an official government reminder of what your mugshot would look like.

Well, Marco Rubio may finally be doing something about this problem.

The State Department is now working on a plan that would allow Americans to take their passport photos at home using a phone or laptop camera. This means no more awkward pharmacy photo shoots, and no more paying hard-earned money to look like a fugitive on the run.

Your next passport photo could be taken in your living room.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced plans to let Americans use their phone or laptop camera to capture passport photos from home instead of visiting CVS, Walgreens, or another photo service.

The State Department says the images would be verified in real time using facial recognition technology, eliminating the need for in-store photo services.

It’s the latest move from the Trump administration aimed at making travel more convenient for Americans as they roll out changes tied to the travel experience.

This is one more Team Trump effort to try and make travel a little easier, and honestly, this is one of those small changes people immediately hear about and wonder why the government didn’t make this change eons ago.
