Dems Preach 'Civility' While Approving Abhorrent Anti-Trump License Plate

If you've been holding your breath waiting for the American left to "lower the temperature" in the wake of the political assassination of Turning Point USA founder and CEO Charlie Kirk, you've been wasting your time (and your breath). Oh, sure, they want you to take things down a few notches—even better, just be quiet altogether—but they are so convinced of their own moral superiority that they themselves have no intention of toning things down.

Keep this in mind as they pay lip service to the need for civility in public discourse.

Take, for instance, Democrat Jocelyn Benson. She's Michigan's current secretary of state and is also running for governor. On the same day that a young man indoctrinated in leftist hate murdered Charlie Kirk, a young man devoted to the true and the righteous, Benson implored her followers on X to “turn down the hateful rhetoric and move toward a renewed commitment to civility.”

What happened to Charlie Kirk today is unimaginable and horrifying. It doesn’t matter who you voted for or what your beliefs are, there’s no justification for violence of any kind.

We cannot accept political violence like this as normal. We need to turn down the hateful rhetoric and move toward a renewed commitment to civility, especially in the places where ideas are meant to be debated, not attacked.

Wow, right? A Democrat decrying the senseless violence visited upon an activist on the other side of the aisle. Did Jocelyn Benson actually "get it"?

Not so much. It turns out that Benson, in her role as Michigan's secretary of state, has allowed the hate emanating from her side to fester in a most visible and public way.

That's right, her department approved a license plate explicitly calling for the removal of President Trump, presumably by any means necessary, in a not-so-subtle nod and a wink to those who think violence is an appropriate form of discourse. And this particular license plate violates the very policies Benson oversees, which specifically disallow messages "used to disparage or promote or condone hate or violence directed at any type of business, group or persons."

But, hey, it's not hard to figure out from whom Benson is getting her marching orders.

We went down this road not too long ago when former FBI Director James Comey "innocently" posted a photo of sea shells arranged to read "8647." He claimed he, a former top federal law enforcement official, had no idea it could be interpreted as a call to assassinate Donald Trump, who, as it happens, survived two assassination attempts in 2024. Jocelyn Benson, just like James Comey before her, knows exactly what she's was doing by amplifying this kind of violent messaging ... and we now know it works amongst the weak-minded foot soldiers of the radical left.

Feel free to ignore any lip service being paid by the left to "lowering the temperature" -- they won't and never will. They want you to cede all the ground to them while they fully intend to ratchet up the rhetoric and the violence in an effort to silence you. Don't let them.
