Lost in all the excitement over the close of the Supreme Court's 2025 term is the fact that today (Tuesday) is also primary election day in Colorado. There aren't quite so many hotly contested races in the Centennial State, but there are a handful worth keeping an eye on.

Here's what to look for this evening:

In the Governor's race — Sen. Michael Bennet faces off against state Attorney General Phil Weiser for the Democrats to succeed the term-limited Jared Polis. (The Republicans have three candidates in the mix: Barb Kirkmeyer, Scott Bottoms, and Victor Marx.)

For the U.S. Senate — Sen. John Hickenlooper is angling for a second term, but faces a challenge from progressive state Sen. Julie Gonzales on the Democrat side. Republican Mark Baisley is running unopposed.

For the U.S. House — The big battles will be in CD-1 and CD-8. CD-1 features incumbent Rep. Diana DeGette attempting to stave off a challenge from the left in Melat Kiros. (Speculation is that the Democrat Socialist energy from New York will waft westward and boost Kiros.) In the 8th District, incumbent Rep. Gabe Evans is running unopposed on the Republican side, while Democrats state Rep. Manny Rutinel and former state Rep. Shannon Bird duke it out to see who'll take on Evans in November.
