  • Senate Energy and Natural Resources — Hearings to examine the nominations of William Hague, of Washington, to be an Assistant Secretary, Kevin Lilly, of Texas, to be Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife, both of the Department of the Interior, and Kaveh Farzad, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary of Energy (International Affairs).
  • Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs — Hearings to examine the affordability agenda.
  • Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Aviation, Space, and Innovation Subcommittee — Hearings to examine improving safety across the National Airspace System.

    The House also has a Rules Committee meeting set.

    The Senate also has two roll call votes set for Tuesday afternoon:

    After a quiet weekend, we had several notable court decisions on Monday, including:

  • ✅ In Doe v. Trump (USCIS policies re: benefits for non-citizens), Judge Julie Kobick (Massachusetts) DENIES plaintiffs' motion to enforce preliminary injunctions.
  • ❌ In Aragon v. Rollins (SNAP foods), Judge Amy Berman Jackson (D.C.) GRANTS plaintiffs' motion for summary judgment, DENIES defendants' cross-motion for summary judgment.
  • ❌ In In re. Donald J. Trump (offshoot of J.G.G. v. Trump), D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals VACATES its April 14 order granting the admin's petition for mandamus, reinstates administrative stay, and sets case for rehearing en banc in September.
  • ❌ In U.S. v. DeMarinis (voter rolls), Judge Stephanie Gallagher (Maryland) GRANTS defendants' motion to dismiss.
  • ✅ In U.S. v. Allen (WHCD shooting), Judge Trevor McFadden (D.C.) DENIES Defendant's motion to disqualify Blanche and Pirro from prosecuting the case.

    • And SCOTUS will be handing down decisions today, beginning at 10:00 AM — I can't tell you which ones will be announced, but I can promise you there will be at least two "big" ones.

    President Trump is set to meet with Senate Republicans on Wednesday when he attends their Steering lunch — lots to discuss (SAVE America Act, FISA §702 reauthorization, the ODNI nomination...)

    And later that evening, he'll be part of the Freedom 250 Kickoff Event on the National Mall

    President Trump will head to Turkey for the NATO Summit July 7-8.

    MORNING MUSING

    I guess we've reached the point where it isn't even about decline or decay — there are people (many, it seems) who would rather deface and destroy monuments, landmarks, and places of beauty than give Donald Trump a "win." 

    I'd suggest said people need to take a long, hard look in the mirror, but I'm starting to wonder if they'd even see a reflection.
