World Cup Freddy Makes It to Boston for That 'Treat' From Gordon Ramsey - and Nail-Biter Germany Game

Freddy, the World Cup tourist from Germany, made it to the Boston area for his ultimate goal - Germany's game with Paraguay at Gillette Stadium.
But before that game, he had a little weekend fun in Boston.

Freddy and his buddy were invited to the TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) Slammiversary wrestling event with the Hardy Brothers.
We just met Jeff and Matt Hardy at #TNASlammiversary. This is insane. They were a huge part of our childhood. 15-year-old me would never have believed this. It was so cool getting to chat with them and share some of our wrestling memories. pic.twitter.com/6GHG7ccU4a

They also got a nice "wilkommen" from a woman at the event, and Freddy took the moment to thank the American people for being so nice to him and his buddies.
I just want to say a huge thank you to the American people who have been so welcoming to us since we arrived. 🇺🇸❤️
We’ve been here for over three weeks now, and we genuinely haven’t met a single unfriendly person. Thank you so much.🙏 pic.twitter.com/25bkq6UmuV

If you have been following along with Freddy's saga, you may recall that Chef Gordon Ramsey promised him a special treat if he made it to Boston.

Ramsey helped set them up in a beautiful hotel in the center of Boston for two nights. And there was some very nice swag waiting, including cupcakes with Freddy's avatar (the face of Portugal soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo), a couple of Ramsey cookbooks, Red Sox gear, and the piece de resistance - a chef's jacket, welcoming him and signed by Ramsey.
After nine long days on the road, staying in motels, this is our home for the next two nights right in the centre of Boston. Thank you to Gordon Ramsay and his team for making this possible. We can’t thank you enough.🙏 pic.twitter.com/nCwGirGLuE

Then they were off to the Germany game on Monday. Freddy said he was worried about this game.

Germany did not have a great first half, and Portugal scored the first goal.
Then in the second half, Germany kept knocking on the door until finally they tied it up. They had possession most of the time.

Then they went to stoppage time. In the first stoppage time, Germany scored a goal and thought they had it. But then the referees called it back in a heartbreaking moment for a foul on what was a controversial call.

When there was no additional scoring in stoppage, they went to a penalty kick shootout to break the tie. Kai Havertz missed the first shot, and that put Germany in trouble.

Then it went back and forth, in a nail-biter of a game, until finally Paraguay topped them in the last shot. So Paraguay advances on penalty kicks to the Round of 16. That was a huge upset. Turns out Freddy was right to be concerned, because that's it for Germany in the tournament.

Freddy had been planning to go to Philadelphia if they won, a great place to be for America 250. He'll still be here for a bit, so he may still get there.
