'World Cup' Freddy's Road Trip Blasts Off When America Provides Him With an Out of This World Experience

I spoke about Freddy the German World Cup tourist's road trip starting to become legendary in Louisiana.
With the alligator, seeing the New Orleans Saints facility, getting a taste of some of the classic cuisine, and getting invited by country singer Ella Langley to her concert in a couple of days, that would be hard to top.

But then he and his crew reached Houston, where former NFL player J.J. Watt hooked him up with a beautiful hotel room and some great swag. Then they got to watch their first official World Cup game, Germany vs. Curacao. Germany won, 7-1.

'World Cup’ Freddy Finally Makes It to Houston - and America Delivers Again
Freddy then had some time before the next game on Wednesday, so he met people at the Houston Police Department (and managed to tick off some anti-cop folks on the left in the process). But he termed it his "most American experience so far."
Our most American experience so far🇺🇸
We met with the Houston Police department and ate typical Texan BBQ together. It looked in there just like in the movies. They even put on Ella Langley just for us.😂 pic.twitter.com/zN5r2gTlqL

Freddy also wanted to thank everyone for helping give him such an American experience, seeing "behind the scenes" and meeting a lot of "amazing people."
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone following our journey. You're making it possible for us to have the most American experience imaginable on this trip. Not only are we driving across the country, but we're also getting to see behind the scenes and meet so many… pic.twitter.com/TCrqul92nV

Freddy and his friends got to their first baseball game, Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers.

Then they drove out to the coast to Galveston for a quick night visit.

They're just young guys, traveling with hand luggage. He marveled at how nice Americans had been, saying now they had to get a suitcase to take back all the gifts.
Good morning from Galveston, Texas.
Our main mission today is to get a new suitcase. Everywhere we go, people are so incredibly kind to us. This is what we received from the Police Department and the Astros yesterday. What I appreciate most is that they always think of my… pic.twitter.com/wgS99IeeY3

But you may know there's something else that's very important in the Houston area, and Freddy found it. Big time. The Johnson Space Center. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). They got a very cool tour from astronaut Col. Anne McClain.

This is the coolest thing ever. We’re at NASA getting a tour from astronaut Anne McClain. This is us entering the Orion capsule that flew around the Moon in April. pic.twitter.com/F62BdSpTEV

I think that's an Orion trainer mock-up they have in Houston, which is pretty cool.
Not only that, but he got to call the International Space Station.
Most surreal moment of our lives. Filmed the whole call, will post the video later. https://t.co/jwXQq798kS pic.twitter.com/gljRttcJbn

Thank you @NASA for the coolest day ever. One week ago, we were eating Chili’s in Chattanooga, and today we’re talking to the ISS. This is the American dream.
Thanks for letting three random World Cup tourists from Germany live it for a few days. USA rocks.🇺🇸🚀 pic.twitter.com/Blgfp788WX

Col. Anne McClain and NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman confirmed the visit.
One of the best parts of this job is sharing the wonder of exploration. It was an honor to host @FreddyLA7 and friends at @NASAJohnson, thank you for your curiosity and excitement! (Confirmed: real people, on an epic road trip!) https://t.co/Fof3UqgNj3
