New: Watch Ro Khanna Twists Himself Into a Pretzel on Platner, With Surprising Take on Allegations

In some ways, Democrat Graham Platner running for the Senate in Maine is a gift... for the Republicans, at least.

He's a disastrous candidate, and Democrats are doing all they can to embarrass themselves in their desperate effort to justify him. Apparently, anything is justifiable to them if they think it leads to them getting power.

The guy who seems intent on digging the hole deeper and dragging the dirt in on himself is Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17). Khanna actually joined Platner for one of his rallies in Maine on Friday.

Then, on Sunday, Khanna doubled down on his support for Platner, twisting himself into a pretzel in the process when trying to explain what his "red line" would be to reject him. This is quite something.

“My view is that even according to the NY Times piece, they said there was no harm, no injury. There was toxicity, and there was verbal intimidation, which I condemn. But Graham has made it clear that there was no evidence of violence. That to me is a red line.

If there was evidence of violence, I would not support. If there was evidence of sexual assault, I would have zero support for him.”

So let's ignore what Platner's ex-girlfriend said, because Platner, the guy who allegedly did it, says it didn't happen. This isn't "violence" to Ro.

But she said he regularly grabbed her by the shoulders — sometimes hard enough to leave marks — and, on one occasion, yanked her out of a cab by her wrist after an argument when she wanted to stay in the car.

During one argument, she recalled, he twisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a bedroom and held the door closed from the other side so she couldn’t getout, telling her to remain there until she was “calm.” Eventually, Ms. Fifield said, she fell asleep and left the next morning.

“It hurt,” she said. But she added: “It didn’t cause an injury, it didn’t break my arm.”

As we noted, Khanna was all over the "Believe all women" thing -- if the women were Democrats attacking a Republican.

But, in a surprising take, he's still trying to say he believes Fifield - despite saying there's no "evidence" of violence.

So he believes he grabbed her hard enough to leave marks, grabbed her out of a car, twisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a room, and wouldn't let her out. That's not "violence." Something is wrong with anyone who thinks like that. He's trying to be on both sides of the issue, and that's not possible.

Khanna also acts as if Platner has acknowledged it, "taken accountability," and changed, when Platner has, in fact, denied it and attacked the ex-girlfriend over it. That's not taking accountability. And Khanna pointing out how Democrats are supposed to be acting, but Platner himself not acting that way actually makes it worse for Platner.

Yet, Khanna is still supporting him. This is the corner the Democrats have painted themselves into. And it's just going to get smaller as more comes out.
