This Is The Way: US Attorney Bill Essayli Smacks Down Media 'Hot Take' on ICE Arrest

We're in a bit of a propaganda war when it comes to the battle over ICE.
Democrat politicians and people on the left have had no compunction against twisting facts to push their own narratives.

So when they want to demonize ICE agents, they claim they are "disappearing people" and "kidnapping" them "without identifying themselves." They say this even when you see "Border Patrol" or "ICE" embazoned on what the agents are wearing. And law enforcement arresting or detaining someone isn't "kidnapping" them.
The problem is that you often have the media going along with this nonsense. We got such a story when it came to the raid on the cannabis farm in Camarillo, California, on July 10. KTLA had the story about a professor "taken" during the raid and quoted the California Faculty Association claiming it was a "kidnapping."
California State University Channel Islands is calling for the immediate release of one of their professors who was detained during a protest on Thursday. https://t.co/xyyA13gEBq

That is some picture.
U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli then scolded them on Sunday.
Professor Jonathan Caravello was not “kidnapped” by federal agents. He was arrested for throwing a tear gas canister at law enforcement. He is charged with a violation of 18 USC 111 and will have a court appearance tomorrow. https://t.co/QrIivjrthd

Professor Jonathan Caravello was not "kidnapped," Essayli said. He explained, "He was arrested for throwing a tear gas canister at law enforcement. He is charged with a violation of 18 USC 111 and will have a court appearance tomorrow."
Whoops. That's not quite the same thing as "kidnapped." That's sort of a critical part of the story. KTLA had an "Editor's Note" on the story claiming they contacted DHS but didn't hear back. First, they could have determined the facts, and second, they didn't have to repeat slanted information. Then on Sunday, while they finally reported what Essayli said, they didn't appear to have updated that original article to clarify.
We see this in other cases where the left is whipping people up into a frenzy and twisting the facts into a pretzel. No, ICE is not just grabbing "brown" people off the street, and no, they aren't "kidnapping" American citizens. If you attack a federal agent, then, yes, they can arrest you. If someone throws something at a federal officer, then no, that's not peaceful protesting. There's always a backstory that shows you there's more than what's being claimed. And the media is sometimes just repeating the narrative.

The worst part is from Democratic politicians who seem to want to invalidate or discredit ICE and the mere enforcement of the law.

This is how far over the edge they have gotten at this point. If they think this is endearing to most Americans, they better think again. This is another issue that's likely to sink them in 2026.
