New York Knicks 'Fans' Could Take a Huge Lesson in How to Properly Celebrate From Scotland's Tartan Army

New York City has knocked Los Angeles out of first place in the "How Much Destruction Can One Celebration Cause?" competition Saturday night as thousands of hoodlums caused absolute mayhem to honor the New York Knicks' first NBA championship since 1973. At the same time, in Boston, Team Scotland's Tartan Army celebrated their first World Cup win in 36 years with lots of singing and zero mayhem.

In New York City, revelers set school buses (which were to be used as shuttles to World Cup games in New Jersey) ablaze, city buses were vandalized, took bats to NYPD cruisers, set trash fires, lit fireworks in the middle of the streets, and caused millions of dollars in damages. Ten NYPD officers were hurt, four people were stabbed, one person was shot, and 63 people were arrested.
🚨 Rioters not only destroyed school buses in Times Square tonight — they also tried taking over a CITY BUS while the DRIVER was still in it

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani seemed to think it was a mostly peaceful event, saying:
“The vast majority of New Yorkers celebrated appropriately. There were some who did not.
“We said time and again, no matter how excited we are, there’s no tolerance for violence, whether towards police officers or anyone else.
“I appreciate the men and women of the NYPD for keeping our city safe."

And where were Mamdani and Governor Hochul? Nowhere to be found.
The riots tonight left Times Square looking like a total WARZONE.
Millions of dollars in property damage.
Several people injured, including officers.
Teenager shot.
All while Mamdani and Hochul were out partying
They didn’t left a FINGER to help the overwhelmed NYPD.
Shame. pic.twitter.com/SENyVLHQQT

And somehow, thousands of people were able to gather in the streets and sing without breaking into fights and causing destruction.
