New York City Democratic Socialists of America Co-Chair Gustavo Gordillo claims his family was forced to immigrate to the US due to American imperialism. He’s also pushing that grocery stores should be owned by the government and that the Senate should be done away with. So dumb.
Making no sense whatsoever and giving credence to the idea that evil is inherently stupid, New York City Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Co-Chair Gustavo Gordillo had the gall to appear on Fox News and defend his organization’s communist platform. He contended that the US Senate is “undemocratic,” that government involvement in industry is better than private corporations, and American “imperialism” is to blame for mass migration.

Pushing Communism
The interview was with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Friday’s segment of “The Story.” She spoke with Gordillo about the string of DSA primary victories via the Democratic Party in New York City. But he was quick to turn to DSA’s larger political plans, including inserting itself into the 2028 Democratic presidential primary, while pushing platform planks such as abolishing the US Senate, mass amnesty for illegal immigrants, reducing military spending, and implementing a wealth tax.
Gordillo’s family immigrated to the US due to poverty and a poor economic system in Peru. Instead of embracing capitalism and assimilating, his family brought their communist ideology with them. Basically, he claims that the “imposition of capitalism and American imperialism” is why many immigrants from Latin America migrate to the US. So, he’s blaming the US for his family’s migrating here.
Then, the Marxist tore into the Senate.
“The United States Senate is an undemocratic institution. It gives more representation to people in smaller states than to the 30 million people in California,” Gordillo falsely and uninformedly stated as if he actually knew what he was talking about.
MacCallum clapped back, informing him that Congress, as intended by the Founding Fathers, has two chambers with the House of Representatives proportional to population and the Senate providing equal representation for each state.
This guy has almost certainly never even read our Constitution, much less studied our history.
“From Each According to His Ability, to Each According to His Need”
Gordillo blundered on asserting that government ownership and involvement in industries was superior to private ownership and Americans operating their own businesses. The full Marxist mask was entirely ripped off at that point.
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s idea of government-run grocery stores was brought up… an unworkable idea embraced and pushed by DSA. Gordillo, at that point, head-scratchingly contended that public competition could benefit consumers.
Host Martha MacCallum asked the elitist, “I guess the question is, how does the government become more democratized if the government takes over more of the power? So, for example, here in New York, if you have government-owned grocery stores, right? And that was what Mamdani promised; I know you were supportive of his election, and I interviewed him here. So, they’re up — like, breaking ground on one grocery store so far; it’s going to cost $30 million to build a grocery store. In what world does it make sense to build a $30 million grocery store and put competitive pressure on the bodegas that are in the neighborhood?”
“I think that what we saw in the mayoral campaign is the mayor was able to build a movement that inspired people to believe that we could have a government that works for ordinary people, that is actually responsive to the working class,” Gordillo responded.
MacCallum interrupted him to ask, “Inspiration is great. But if you’re the bodega owner, how would you feel if the government opened a big grocery store right next to your bodega?”
“If one publicly owned grocery store that brings prices down is enough to put someone out of business, then maybe they shouldn’t have been in that business in the first place,” he said.
The stupidity of that statement is not only communist in nature, but also thunderously moronic and shows an utter lack of understanding of economics or the free market. So, all NYC has to do is lower prices enough to push private businesses out of the market. Then the government-owned stores can charge whatever they want and shortages will be everywhere. This is Marxism on a cracker, and ideology like this causes people to starve to death.
The Warmth of Collectivism
Gordillo went on to use the talking point that residents of New York City are struggling with affordability and finding it increasingly difficult to build families and remain living in the city. That is because they are taxed to death there for all the freebies that the commies give out.
“I think that’s what’s happening now is people are struggling with the economic reality, they’re coming together, and they’re organizing for a new political and economic system,” he said, leaving out that communism has led to the deaths of millions and DSA is happily helping lead millions more to slaughter.
They want to turn America into Cuba.
DSA is getting ready to survey its members on whom the organization should support in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary. The communists are on fire after their limited wins, believing they can seize control of the nation and that Americans are dumb enough to hand the reins of power to them.
DSA national Co-Chair Megan Romer claims it is “really important” that the DSA is involved in the 2028 primary and that “It’s important that we have somebody saying sensible things.”
Good luck with that. The best shot right now the communists have is word salad Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has an intellectual and moral deficit the size of the Grand Canyon.
