The editorial tears into Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul for their grotesque moral cowardice and thinly veiled antisemitism, as they distance themselves from Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas’s barbaric terror.

Germany Funds Terror, Lectures Israel

While Israeli and German hostages rot in Hamas dungeons, while Jewish infants are strangled to death by terrorists, what does the German government do? It sends taxpayer money to the very terrorists holding those hostages and then has the audacity to lecture Israel on the “proportionality” of its military response.

A staggering 80% of Germans now say Israel’s actions in Gaza are “unjustified,” up from 69% just months ago. By suggesting that Germany’s support for Israel “must not be instrumentalized,” he parrots the oldest antisemitic trope in the book: that Jews exploit guilt for political leverage. He then distinguishes between the Israeli government and its people, as if the democratically elected leaders of Israel somehow don’t represent their own citizens. Would any German politician dare say this about any other democracy?

The Barbarity Germany Ignores

Hamas is not misunderstood. It is not a fringe group. It is a genocidal death cult that livestreams the murder of civilians. Its members gleefully mutilated Israeli toddlers, turned the handover of tiny Jewish coffins into a street party, and hid behind Palestinian children to bait airstrikes for propaganda.

The editorial ends with a hard but necessary truth: just as the Nazis were only stopped through unconditional defeat, Hamas must be dismantled completely. There’s no middle ground with a death cult.

There is no negotiating with a death cult. There is no peace with genocidal fanatics. Every child killed is a tragedy, but that tragedy belongs to Hamas, which uses its own people as human shields and weapons of war.
