Beverly Hills cops get huge new pay raise — spiking salaries to staggering new highs
The new raises for Beverly Hills cops are no joke.
The Beverly Hills Police Department on Friday took to social media to boast about the new salaries for its officers with the tony police department — and they’re some of the highest in the nation.
Starting base salaries for the BHPD now begin at $118,118 per year, rising to a base of $146,749 for senior officers. Top pay for Beverly Hills cops who meet thresholds for education and land cherry assignments top out at $189,326.00.
And that’s before overtime.
The pay rates are part of the new $695.2 million municipal budget approved by the Beverly Hills City Council last week. The 2026-27 budget allocates $124.9 million to the BHPD, a 6.8% increase.
The city’s fire department received $64.1 million, or a bump of 0.2%.
Mayor Craig Corman expressed confidence in the approved budget for the anticipated fiscal year.
“I think it’s a responsible budget, it’s conservative and it’s a roadmap to keep us on a financially healthy path,” he told the Beverly Press.
The BHPD on Friday posted an Instagram story to brag about the raises. On July 1, officers got a 6% bump to their base salary, to be followed by a 5% increase on July 1, 2027, and another 5% increase on July 1, 2028.
Officers with bachelors, masters and advanced college degrees and training certificates get additional salary increases under the agreement ratified by the city and the Beverly Hills Police Officers Association on Nov. 24.
In addition to generous salaries enjoyed by Beverly Hills officer, total paid time off for BHPD cops was increased from an accrued maximum of 160 hours, to a maximum of 220 hours per year.
Even though the BHPD’s new pay rates dwarf those of the much larger Los Angeles Police Department, where cops start at $86,192, it still may not be enough money for BHPD officers to actually live in Beverly Hills.
The cost of living in the only enclave is 160% higher than the national average, with a median home price of $3.5 million and a median monthly rent of $10,513, according to Payscale.com.
The median household income in Beverly Hills is $135,064, compared with the national median household income of $83,181, according to US News and World Report.
The high cost of living means you’d have to make $200,000 to $300,000 to live comfortably in Beverly Hills.
Nationwide, the median pay for US cops is $77, 270, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $120,460.
