Max Fire burning in Santa Clarita area forces shelter-in-place

A brush fire erupted near homes in the Stevenson Ranch area of the Santa Clarita Valley on Monday afternoon, prompting a swift response from firefighters.

The blaze was reported around 4:30 p.m. in a hiking area within Pico Canyon Park near Magnolia Lane, according to CBS.

Footage from the outlet showed helicopters working to put out flames just yards away from homes. Crews could also be seen digging containment lines to slow the fire’s advance.
