Clackamas County deputies shoot person they say charged with an ax near Wilsonville

NEAR WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KATU) — Two Clackamas County sheriff's deputies under contract with the Wilsonville Police Department shot and wounded someone who they said charged at them with an ax on Friday night, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies were called at about 5:30 p.m. to respond to a domestic disturbance involving a moving vehicle.
Two deputies found the vehicle near Southwest Stafford Road and 65th Avenue near Wilsonville. When the vehicle stopped, a person got out and charged the deputies, who then shot that person, the sheriff's office said.
The person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The two deputies involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard practice in police shootings.
No deputies were injured.
The road was closed for several hours for the police investigation.
