Three killed in shooting in Jewish neighborhood of Montreal

Three people were killed Monday during a shooting in a Jewish neighborhood of Montreal, Canada, including a Jewish civilian and a police officer, according to local authorities.
The Montreal Police Department said a suspect was also among those killed and a second police officer was injured in the shooting. A shelter-in-place order has since been lifted.
“Today, one of ours has fallen in the line of duty,” Montreal police chief Fady Dagher said in a news briefing. "It’s a very, very sad day, it’s a nightmare. But we have to be solid. We have to be solid for the lady police officer who survived and we’re all behind her."
Police said they were called to the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, known as a prominent Jewish neighborhood in the city, after a witness saw a gun sticking out the window, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Officers were fired on when they arrived, resulting in the death of one officer and the injured second officer.
The department has not identified a motive in the shooting, or released the names of the fatalities.
