Gunmen have killed at least 17 farmers and injured more than 13 others in northwestern Nigeria while working in the fields, a local official said in an Associated Press report.

The killings happened in Goron Namaye, which is located in the Maradun area of Zamfara state. 

AP reported that no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
