President Donald Trump on Monday cheered as oil tankers resumed transit through the Strait of Hormuz in the wake of an announced peace agreement to end the Iran war.

"Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with Oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz. They are going along the Southern 'Highway,' which is totally safe, secure, and pristine. There are other areas of travel, also!!!" he posted on Truth Social.

Trump on Sunday announced that Iran had agreed to a deal to end the war, though the exact still remain unclear as of press time.

Since the start of the conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz to commercial traffic has been a key goal of the administration and Trump's initial announcement suggested that both nations had agreed to that provision at least.

As of press time, open source maritime traffic data seems to show vessels moving through the waterway to a degree not seen since early February.
