South Carolina will be first in Dems' 2028 primary

The Democratic Party on Friday selected South Carolina as the first state to vote in the 2028 presidential primary, Politico reported.
The Palmetto State currently boasts a single Democratic member of the House, Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., but is also home to a large black population, a Democratic voting bloc that has sought increased influence in determining the party's leaders.
South Carolina's selection could prove a boon to former Vice President Kamala Harris, should she seek the nomination in what is expected to be a crowded field.
