South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C. vowed Thurdsay to be "more of a menace than ever" after her fifth-place finish in the state's GOP gubernatorial primary.

Mace finished the Tuesday evening contest behind Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, state Attorney General Alan Wilson, fellow GOP Rep. Ralph Norman and Rom Reddy. She later endorsed Wilson.

Responding to a post from actor and comedian Rob Schneider praising Mace as the "champion we didn't deserve," Mace indicated that the impending expiration of her political career rendered her more likely to act independently.

"Never thought I’d get my Congressional send-off from Deuce Bigalow. Don’t worry sir, I promise to be more of a menace than ever. There is nothing to hold me back. Thank you for the kind words," she said, responding to Schneider.

Though Mace had positioned herself as a Trump-aligned figure for much of her time in office, she later broke with him on a number of issues, most notably in her support for releasing the Epstein Files.

After her defeat, she seemed to blame her electoral loss on that vote and her efforts to defend survivors of sexual assault.

What's next in Mace's political career is unclear, considering her House term ends at the end of this congressional session.
