The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, for an unspecified allegation, the committee confirmed on Monday.

The panel indicated that it had received a referral from the Office of Congressional Conduct in June, but did not provide any details on the allegation.

Gooden was first elected in 2018 and represents Texas's 5th Congressional District, which includes parts of Dallas.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened scrutiny of members of Congress and in the wake of several resignations, including those of former Reps. Tony Gonzales of Texas and Eric Swalwell of California.
