Carney vows to stand with Denmark over Greenland issue

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday vowed that Canada would stand with Denmark amid ongoing concerns over President Donald Trump's efforts to acquire Greenland.
Several European nations have sent troops to Greenland to participate in drills with Denmark as Copenhagen seeks to head off a military acquisition. At the same time, Denmark has agreed to form a working group with the U.S. to discuss a purchase of the territory.
“The future of Greenland is a decision for Greenland and for the Kingdom of Denmark,” Carney told reporters on Friday. "We are NATO partners with Denmark, and so our full partnership stands... Our obligations on Article 5, Article 2 of NATO stand, and we stand full-square behind those."
A number of NATO countries have sent troops in the past several days to participate in military exercises on the island, ABC News reported.
