President Donald Trump on Monday vowed to move forward with his legal efforts to remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Directors after the Supreme Court declined to lift a stay on her firing while the case moved through lower courts.

Trump attempted to fire Cook last year for cause, citing allegations that she had lied on a mortgage application. Cook has challenged her termination and secured a stay from a lower court.

"The Cook Lawsuit, having to do with her suitability in sitting on the Board of the Federal Reserve, was sent back by the Supreme Court on a strictly procedural basis, we will take appropriate action immediately to make sure that someone who has committed wrongdoing will not be making vital decisions concerning the Welfare of the United States of America!" Trump posted on Truth Social. 

The 5-4 decision on Monday saw the justices determine that the Trump administration was unlikely to succeed on the merits of the case as it proceeded and declined to lift the stay while the case moves forward.
