Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday announced she will teach a course on Congress at the Nancy Pelosi Institute for Representative Democracy at the University of California Berkeley, which is to be launched with tens of millions of dollars from Pelosi and other donors.
Pelosi said that the institute will be a nonpartisan academic endeavor, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“The work of democracy is never finished, and securing its future is our greatest calling,” Pelosi told the Times.
She said that the institute will be a space where Democrats and Republicans, including those that support President Donald Trump, can debate and study the American political tradition.
The institute plans to take on 500 students per year and eventually offer more than a dozen undergraduate courses across majors.
