Judge declines to block UFC White House fight

A federal judge on Friday declined to stop the planned UFC fight on the White House grounds after a pair of Virginia residents sued to stop the event.
UFC Freedom 250 is part of the 250th anniversary of the United States's celebrations in Washington, D.C., and will feature several matches across weight classes.
U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta on Friday determined that the plaintiffs had not shown that the event taking place would harm them, The Hill reported. Specifically, he found they could not show they were "directly affected" by the event.
The DOJ this week urged Mehta to rule against a stay, arguing that it was too late to make alternative plans.
“All these hopes could be dashed at the very last moment, however, by the whim of two people who believe they have superior taste and want to spoil the event for everyone else,” the agency wrote at the time.
