A soldier in the U.S. Army died during preparations for the upcoming Exercise Saber Guardian 25 in Hungary.
The Army said Sgt. Aaron Cox, 24, from Texas died Thursday near Camp Croft, Hungary from injuries sustained from a vehicle accident, according to CBS News.
Cox was an Infantryman who was assigned to the "Strike" 2nd Mobile Brigade Combat Team.
Hungary was Cox's second deployment, and he had previously been to Poland in 2022.
"The loss of Sgt. Cox is a tragedy for all of us on the Strike team," commander of the 2MBCT, 101st Airborne Div., Col. Duke Reim said in a statement. "He was a strong soldier and leader, who quickly rose through the ranks while serving."
Reim said there is an ongoing investigation into the incident as no further information about the vehicle accident was provided.
