The Trump administration announced Monday that it will impose a 50% tariff on certain Canadian imports, accusing 🇨🇦Canada of unfairly targeting American businesses through its tax policies.

According to FOX Business, the 💵Tariffs are scheduled to take effect Aug. 19 under the Tariff Act of 1930.

Officials said 🇨🇦Canada’s policies have harmed U.S. automakers, contributing to a sharp drop in American vehicle exports while giving foreign competitors an advantage.

The order states that the additional 50% duty is "necessary and appropriate and in the public interest."

It also argues that the United States, American businesses and workers, and U.S. commerce have been harmed by what officials called 🇨🇦Canada’s "discriminatory, unequal, and unreasonable tariff scheme."
