Those who have been caught vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Washington’s National Mall can expect to be fullyprosecuted.
That’s according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, who made the announcement Sunday.
President Donald Trump is blaming Vandalism for problems with the newly renovated pool. This includes the new blue paint peeling off.
Pirro said citations for Vandalism have been issued. She added even minor crimes must be prosecuted to keep the U.S. capital safe.
The peeling paint was visible in the 2,000-foot-long rectangular pool less than two weeks after Trump declared its $14.7 million renovation project was done on June 6.
On Saturday, Trump claimed vandals poured corrosive chemicals into the pool.
“Anyone who is in a position of vandalizing or attempting to vandalize will face the criminal justice system in D.C.,” Pirro told Fox News’ “Sunday Briefing.”

Watch:There has also been an Algae bloom in the pool that makes the water look green.
Those adding products to the pool that can generate Algae could face more severe charges, Pirro said.
Last week, workers from the National Park Service added hydrogen peroxide to the pool to fight the Algae.
Trump first brought up allegations of Vandalism on Friday on Truth Social, when he wrote 75% of the Algae is gone.
“The Algae is 75% gone, and the condition will soon be completely remedied, and the area that was vandalized, fortunately, is just a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week,” Trump wrote. “It’s a shame that the Radical Left Lunatics, most likely Dumocats, who have spent their lives trying to ruin our Country, are free to do so. Law Enforcement is actively investigating this situation, and will hopefully have it resolved soon.”
He also accused ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl of “trying to rip the rubber off of the surface” of the pool.
“Lightweight ABC Reporter, Jonathan Karl, was seen sticking his hand into the Pool, and trying to rip the rubber off of the surface,” the president posted.
