Rob Reiner made one final on-screen appearance before his death in a political comedy special starring Larry David, with the film's director describing the cameo as the late filmmaker's "last laugh" aimed at President Donald Trump.
According to Fox News, Reiner appeared in HBO's "Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America," which premiered over the Fourth of July weekend.
Director Jeff Schaffer told Variety the timing of the release was intentional.
"It's coming out on Fourth of July weekend, and if it in any way spoils a sad octogenarian's weekend, then oh well," Schaffer said.
In the sketch, Reiner portrays George Washington and announces he will not seek a third term as president. He also suggests Congress adopt a constitutional amendment limiting presidential power.
Larry David, dressed in colonial-era clothing, responds by imagining a future president who ignores the Constitution.
"Well, what if there's some a****** in office, some narcissistic p**** who doesn't follow the Constitution?" David asks.

As the exchange continues, David imagines a president using the office for personal gain and abusing executive authority.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel also makes a surprise appearance, joking about a president who cannot tolerate criticism.
Near the end of the sketch, Reiner's character delivers a blunt assessment as the fictional colonists argue among themselves, saying, "We're f****ed."
The special concludes with an In Memoriam tribute honoring Reiner.
According to reports, the sketch was filmed on Nov. 13, about one month before Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found dead inside their Brentwood-area home on Dec. 14 after Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the residence.
Authorities later arrested the couple's son, Nick Reiner, who was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Feb. 23.
A spokesperson for the Reiner family previously told Fox News Digital that the family has "the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings."

Court records obtained by Fox News Digital also show Nick Reiner recently sought access to a $1.5 million trust fund after trustees allegedly denied his request for money to retain celebrity defense attorney Alan Jackson.
Prosecutors are seeking a sentence that could include life in prison without parole or the death penalty if he is convicted.
