Abortion as a Sacrament Wins Again

Remember the good ol' days when Democrats pretended that they wanted abortion to be "safe, legal, and rare?"

Good times, those were, good times.

It might have been true for many Democratic Party voters, and most certainly was true for most people who felt compassion for women in tough circumstances but who also rightly felt squeamish about treating infants as disposable.

That's why abortion proponents were careful to tailor their pitch with references to the rarest cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother, despite the fact that these cases comprised an infinitesimally small number of cases of actual abortions.

The "compassion" arguments are very powerful because we all feel the pull of conscience when competing values are involved. Do I choose the infant I cannot see and who is still developing, or the mother whose pain I can see and easily understand?

It's hard to look somebody in the eye and say "I know you are in pain, but I believe you must bear it for the good of another." I get that. I feel it myself.

But for abortion advocates—the people who promote the laws—this was all sophistry. They have been advocates of abortion until birth, and now that abortion is the driving motivation for a huge percentage of the Democratic voting base, and the rest are desensitized to the guilt they used to feel at the human sacrifice they had chosen to approve, the advocates are moving to the next step: passing abortion until birth laws everywhere they can.

In this case, the once famously Catholic Massachusetts is moving the line from abortion through the second trimester, which is already an extreme position, to setting the deadline as birth...for now.

Nine states already have no gestational limits on abortions, which should appall any sentient human being who doesn't believe that Moloch demands it. But of course it doesn't appall most Democrats, for which they will have to answer to God Himself.

These jurisdictions are:

  • District of Columbia
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • Adding yet another state to the list will of course be seen as a "victory" for women's rights, as if six months were hardly enough time to decide whether or not you were raped, suffered incest, or your life was in danger (which, in any case, would justify the termination of a pregnancy in any state in the nation. Even Catholic theology approves giving life-saving care that results in the death of a fetus, although many mothers will delay treatments until the child is born.

Abortion extremism is now a political requirement to get elected in the Democratic Party, and you may recall that the most commonly cited policy issue Democrats have pushed in recent elections has been abortion, and they doubled down on it after the Supreme Court reversed Roe.

Abortion has gone from something with moral weight that should be allowed in extreme cases, but rare and limited because human life is sacred.

That was never going to hold, both because the people who said "safe, legal and rare" were lying and always wanted abortion until birth, and because every slippery slope argument happens to be right, as by now is obvious. We went from "love is love" to transgender people demanding the right to masturbate in girls' locker rooms in record time.

I know plenty of good people who are pro-choice, but who think that abortion should be as rare as possible because they recognize the moral weight, while also feeling compassion for struggling people. What I can't understand is the willful blindness to the moral horrors that are actually happening right before their eyes.

They tut-tut and say they agree this is too extreme, but vote for it anyway.

Moral degeneracy doesn't just happen on its own. People choose to live with it, just as people choose to vote for the fraud, the corruption, the men in women's bathrooms, and for people with Nazi tattoos.

It's a choice. And they choose badly.

Editor's Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
