Where Does Israel Go to Get Their Apology?

One of the almost infinite number of accusations hurled at Israel has been the claim that it intentionally targeted 'journalists' in Gaza as part of a devious plan to hide its genocidal war crimes.

The accusation was always absurd, but it had the patina of plausibility, since a significant number of journalists had indeed died in the fighting.

Of course, urban warfare is especially dangerous, making it the riskiest kind of war to cover in the first place, but that is not the reason why so many so-called "journalists" were dying. They were, in fact, combatants and Hamas collaborators and fighters.

In the months since the cease-fire, Hamas has been publishing obituaries for the soldiers who have died, and an increasing number of the obits are for men who the international community had identified as victims of Israeli targeted attacks.

For instance, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in justifying his attack on AIPAC as "monsters," referred to the death of a Palestinian "journalist" as proof that Israel is especially perfidious.

It's the sort of argument that hits right at the intellectual's erogenous zone. Press freedom organizations howl, and Western journalists, who love nothing more than themselves, fuel the outrage. That's why every time a so-called "journalist" dies in Gaza, we hear so much about it. It motivates press freedom organizations, the United Nations, and every leftist with a Masters Degree or above.

The reality is that almost without exception, anybody labeled a "journalist" in Gaza is associated with Hamas. They have to be, because Hamas will kill anybody who would report anything they dislike. Many of them are active members with combat or leadership roles.

It's difficult to believe that anyone familiar with the situation is unaware of it. It's not a secret, after all. The Associated Press shared offices with Hamas for years in Gaza, and has been censoring its stories about Gaza because the alternative is having its stringers killed.

Within the journalistic "community," it is common knowledge. So every time you hear a journalist or NGO official expressing outrage about the "murder" of a "journalist" in Gaza, be aware that their outrage is not for who died, but rather that Israel hasn't laid down its arms and allowed Hamas to kill its citizens (or torture dissenting Gazans) with abandon.

Now that Hamas is publishing the obituaries for its martyrs, the Committee to Protect Journalists, which has been loudly condemning Israel throughout the war, is quietly taking names off the list of its "murdered" journalists as Hamas names them as its own. They aren't apologizing, or even acknowledging the fact that their precious journalist was Hamas; they are just revising the list quietly.

Something similar is happening at the UNRWA, which has been firing employees who are indisputably Hamas with little fanfare. It has known about these people for many years, but as the funding has dried up for the UNRWA due to its scandals, it is trying to staunch the bleeding by throwing its most obviously Hamas-linked employees out.

The press has treated these revelations with the same coverage as Tulsi Gabbard's revelations about the Obama administration conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump and the Fauci COVID coverup—by ignoring them. They don't fit The Narrative™, so they don't get coverage. They have important stories to cover, like the algae in the Reflecting Pool, after all.

It doesn't take an investigative reporter to discover any of this. It is plain as the nose on your face, and it's not exactly difficult for a news organization to figure out that their prized reporter in Gaza is moonlighting as a soldier in Hamas, in between their manufactured stories about Israeli atrocities.

Hamas isn't trying to hide any of this. They are publishing the obituaries, describing how their "martyrs" died. They have no need to hide any of it because they can be confident that the world media will continue to collaborate with them.

Their confidence has been well rewarded.
