Antifa? What Antifa? Never Heard of It!

Ever since President Trump announced that he would be designating Antifa as a terrorist organization, liberals have been complaining that Trump is abusing his power in another scheme to silence his political opponents.

There are a few different reasons they give for asserting that, but the most consistently stated one is that Antifa, in fact, does not exist. It is a nebulous concept. It is not an organization, presumably because it doesn't have a tax ID number or apply (directly) for grants from the federal government.

Who can say what it is? Who is in it? Does it even exist, or is the evil right-wing inventing something out of thin air? I bet it is! Republicans are dastardly and mean.

"I don't even know what Antifa is. I know what the definition of Antifa is. There is no group!"

"But what's dangerous is that by designating it, who's going to define who the group is?"

"And if the Trump administration decides to say, 'You, George Soros, are a part of this group that I designated,' and you're like, 'No, I'm not,' and it doesn't matter."

The argument is, as everybody with two neurons that fire when stimulated knows, complete bovine manure. Antifa has recruitment websites, secret Telegram channels, and chapters in various cities around the world, and even ways to ensure that they are not being infiltrated by outsiders.

They are organized, well-funded, and prepared for violence (they show up with gas masks, helmets, masks, shields, and weapons to "protest"

If you have any doubt, follow Andy Ngo and read his work. Antifa is real, and everybody knows it.

The claim that Antifa is an idea, not an organization, is pure gaslighting. Antifa is not exactly the Brownshirts of the Democratic Party--Antifa members' loose collaboration with the Democrats is tactical, not due to real ideological sympathy--but they are not exactly NOT the Brownshirts of the Democratic Party. A lot of money flows from Democrat donors down through various NGOs to fund Antifa chapters and the lawyers whose job is to defend them and bail them out of jail.

Militant Antifa activist and @RutgersU assistant professor Mark Bray donates proceeds from his "Antifa Handbook" to this group.

The Defence Fund has donated to the Antifa militants in Texas charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting up an ICE facility in Alvarado, hitting an officer in the neck.

The association of Democrats and actual terrorists goes back a long way. Early on, the alliance between the Democrats and the KKK is well-documented, of course, and Barack Obama famously began his political career at a fundraiser hosted by Weather Underground members turned professors, Bill Ayers and his wife. They raised Chesa Boudin,  whose parents were convicted of murder in the service of their own Weather Underground terrorism.

Minnesota's current Attorney General, former DNC Vice Chair, and former Congressman (he represented me in both the Minnesota Legislature and in Congress), Keith Ellison, is a big fan of Antifa and promoted it as a counterweight to Trump during his first term.

There is a reason why the Democrats and the Pravda Media are insisting that Antifa is not real, and it is pretty simple: there is a money trail that flows from ActBlue and major Democratic Party donors, and even from state and local government grants to various NGOs, that leads to Antifa cells. It may be complicated, but there is plenty of low-hanging fruit (the legal defense funds, in particular) to go after, and lots of potential RICO actions.

The Democrats and Antifa are connected in a marriage of convenience--they share a mutual interest in destroying conservatives--although many younger and more radical Democrats genuinely love Antifa and their tactics. The party establishment, not so much, although they find them useful and their radical donors are fans. Political operatives are leery of true believers, but they are also often beholden to them.

The media runs cover for Antifa because the Democrats run cover for Antifa, and the Democrats run cover for Antifa because they benefit from Antifa's actions. Kamala Harris even raised money for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which, among others, has regularly bailed out Antifa and BLM rioters.

Democrats have even promoted riots as a tool promoting public health, among other things.

Democrats have to push the falsehood that Antifa is a made-up thing for a simple reason: their backers lead back to the Democratic Party.

With that said, most Democrats comfort themselves with the myth that Antifa is not a real thing, just as many of them are conveniently forgetting that Hamas is a terrorist organization that is still, to this day, holding, executing, and starving hostages to death. To accept these facts is to shatter important illusions, and as long as Pravda backs the claims that "Antifa is just an idea," they can rest easy at night pretending they aren't associating with evil.

The reality is that Antifa is, in fact, a real thing. It is organized, well-funded, plans, and executes terrorist attacks, and the Democratic Party is allied with it.

Pretty much everybody claiming otherwise is gaslighting you.
