The Dickens with Schumer – GrrrGraphics
Cartoon published 11/03/2025
In the fog of Washington, where broken filibusters and broken promises echo, it’s the best of shutdowns and the worst of shutdowns: Austerity for the poor; largesse for lobbyists.
SUPPORT BEN AND TINA’S ART NOW MAKE A DONATIONIf Dickens had penned a sequel to ‘Oliver Twist,’ he’d call it ‘Schumer’s Folly: The Workhouse on the Potomac.’
Imagine a welfare orphan in red-white-and-blue rags approaching Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer with an empty bowl extended: “Please sir, may I have more?”
Grim facts: SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is America’s anti-hunger lifeline, aiding 42 million low-income folks with monthly grocery funds ($120B in 2024). EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) delivers it via debit card – dignified and stigma-free. Shutdowns freeze it after one month, leaving families famished. The Democrats have shut it down because they want free health care for illegal aliens. They prefer non-citizens over citizens.
Let’s take a look at the gift-less Christmas past. 2018’s shutdown meant mess skipped meals for millions and it was led by Schumer. Now, nearing Christmas present, Schumer thunders “cruelty!” from the floor—yet his party’s game of chicken with the Continuing Resolution starves the vulnerable first.
SUPPORT BEN AND TINA’S ART NOW MAKE A DONATIONIn D.C.’s workhouse, orphans eat last. Heed Tiny Tim: “God bless us one and all — and pass the continuing resolution.”
And we can’t forget the massive fraud!
