In 2008, then-Senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama strongly criticized the administration of George W. Bush for failing to control illegal immigration, stating that the entry of millions of undocumented workers had become an extraordinary problem for the country. Obama emphasized that the main concern of the American people was tied to the deterioration of their economic situation, particularly the loss and insecurity of jobs.

According to Obama, many employers were exploiting undocumented labor by paying below minimum wage and ignoring workplace safety laws, which directly harmed American workers by driving wages down and weakening the labor market. For that reason, he argued that the solution required not only strengthening border security but also holding employers accountable, in order to protect jobs and restore economic stability for American families.

The Obama of 2008 would be attacked today, and not by Republicans, but by the radical left that the Democratic Party has become.
