Nancy Guthrie Case: Anonymous Sender Claims Phone Has Video Proof

A person claiming to have information about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has sent a new letter alleging they possess video evidence identifying those responsible for her alleged kidnapping.
The email, first reported by TMZ on Friday, claims the sender has access to a cellphone containing a short video showing Nancy Guthrie alongside one of the alleged kidnappers on what the writer describes as “probably her last” day. The claims have not been independently verified by law enforcement.
According to TMZ, the anonymous sender wrote that the phone also contains photographs, names, addresses, and ages of two people allegedly involved in the case.
“I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone,” the email reportedly states. “What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter.”
Sender Demands Bitcoin PaymentThe letter reportedly claims the phone is hidden in a secure but accessible location and says the sender would provide the password in exchange for a payment to a newly created Bitcoin wallet.
The individual also denied involvement in a recent anonymous tip that prompted authorities and volunteers to search for a possible burial site in Mexico.
“I am not the idiot who recently called in a tip about her burial site in Mexico,” the sender reportedly wrote, Page Six reported.
Earlier this month, a search was launched near Nogales, Mexico, after a volunteer organization that assists in locating missing persons received information suggesting Nancy Guthrie had been buried there. The search did not locate any evidence connected to her disappearance.
TMZ said it forwarded the latest email to the FBI and requested that the sender provide a screenshot from the alleged video as proof of its existence.
The outlet also reported that it believes the email came from the same individual who sent previous ransom-style messages, as the sender used the same alias and referenced an earlier Bitcoin address associated with the case.
Previous Letter Claimed Nancy Guthrie Had DiedThe latest message follows an earlier ransom note sent to several media organizations that claimed Nancy Guthrie had died at the age of 84. Investigators have not confirmed those claims.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Arizona home in February. More than 100 days into the investigation, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or announced a breakthrough in the case.
Law enforcement has not confirmed whether Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped or whether the ransom letters are connected to her disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie Pleaded for InformationSavannah Guthrie addressed the investigation during the June 23 broadcast of Today, making an emotional appeal for anyone with information to contact authorities.
“I don’t have any comment on this story. I’m not involved in our coverage,” she said. “But I can’t pretend I’m not here.” She continued, “Somebody knows something… We are in agony. We cannot be in peace.”
Guthrie also thanked viewers for their support and urged anyone with credible information to come forward as investigators continue working to determine what happened to her mother.
At this time, authorities have not publicly verified the claims made in the latest email, and the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains ongoing.
