A father of five was fatally shot Saturday in Texas after tracking down his son’s stolen truck using GPS.

Louis Erebia, 56, was killed at the intersection of Airline Drive and the North Loop (I-610) in Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), ABC 13 reported. Erebia had tracked his son’s truck to the intersection using GPS after his son was allegedly carjacked at gunpoint, investigators said.

The alleged armed carjacking occurred at 2:00 p.m. at a gas station near Tidwell Road and John Ralston Road, according to KHOU 11. Erebia’s son contacted him for help locating the vehicle following the incident. A 24-year-old friend of Erebia’s son also offered assistance. Erebia and his son’s 24-year-old friend crashed into the vehicle when they located it at the intersection of Airline Drive and the North Loop. The pair then chased the suspects on foot.

The suspects, described as a black man and a black woman, allegedly fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck following the shooting, according to FOX 26 Houston. Erebia was fatally shot and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to KHOU 11. The 24-year-old was shot in the back, but is expected to recover. The male suspect has been identified as 37-year-old London Hogan, Sr., according to ABC 13. The Saturday incident is not his first encounter with the law.

Hogan, Sr. pleaded guilty to choking his girlfriend in March 2024 and was sentenced to five years’ probation, according to court records cited by ABC 13. He was arrested in January 2025 on drug possession charges after he was allegedly planning to smuggle drugs into a correctional facility. Despite violating the terms of his probation, his probation was not revoked, and he was sentenced to just 30 days in jail.

Hogan Sr. is now charged with murder following Erebia’s death. In addition, he has been charged with carjacking and shooting Erebia’s son’s friend.

Erebia’s sister-in-law, Amber Burrough, reacted to the incident while speaking at a news conference, according to ABC 13.

“Louis was everything to everyone, and there are people who aren’t here because they are so heartbroken they’re still grieving. We need justice for what happened to Louis. Louis was a good man,” Burrough said.

“This should have never happened. Let’s be clear. Look at the man’s rap sheet,” she continued.

HCSO Detective Sergio Torres confirmed the Saturday incident, according to Click 2 Houston.

“The male suspect had produced a firearm, discharging the firearm, and the victims sustained a gunshot wound,” Torres said.

The HCSO’s Homicide Division is leading an investigation, which remains ongoing and active, according to FOX 26 Houston.

The Daily Caller contacted the HCSO, but did not receive a comment in time for publication.
