Stephen A. Smith Calls Out Jasmine Crockett For Ducking Him After She Hurled Racial Insult At Him
SiriusXM host Stephen A. Smith called out Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett for avoiding his “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.” show on Tuesday after she said he was “synonymous with the modern day Django.”
Crockett made the comment equating him to the fictional black slave character on an Instagram reel posted by former CNN host Don Lemon that criticized Smith. Smith said that he had invited Crockett to be on his show numerous times and questioned whether she had not taken him up on his offers because she was frightened of his potential questions. “Jasmine Crockett has been invited on this show a multitude of times. You sitting down talking to everybody else,” Smith said. “How come you ain’t sit down to talk to me? Scared of what I’m going to ask?”
“I don’t know. Have no clue,” he continued. “But if you going to say something like that about somebody, hell, say it to their face.”
Smith previously apologized to Crockett on “Straight Shooter with Stephen A.” on Oct. 22 for his comments about her rhetoric after receiving backlash for his Oct. 8 commentary in which he condemned her consistently “disrespectful” remarks against President Donald Trump. He said he was sorry his commentary on Crockett supposedly helped Trump attack her.
“I get it now with Trump feeding into that nonsense, giving him fodder or ammunition to continue to go out there and talk about our black women that way. I got it. I don’t like that at all. I don’t want to be associated with nothing like that,” Smith said at the time. “And I apologize because I respect the hell out of Jasmine Crockett and what she has accomplished. I absolutely do. And I appreciate the fact that she feels compelled to fight the way that she’s fought, the way that she fights because of what she’s dealing with.”
Crockett responded to Smith’s comments during an Oct. 18 live stream with Lemon. She said his criticism “hurt” her and claimed she was “always down for a real conversation.”
While Crockett has been giving interviews since launching her Senate campaign on Dec. 8, she has not appeared on Smith’s show.
Smith repeatedly took Democrats to task over hot-button issues in 2025, frequently criticizing their rhetoric, strategy and policy amid their opposition to Trump.
Crockett’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
