INGERSOLL: Just When I Thought The Media Couldn’t Get Worse, It Takes On Fake Daycares

Greetings, Dear Reader,
Are you ready to lock in this year? The Great Lock-in of 2026 commences!
Let’s get after it.
YOU DON’T HATE THEM ENOUGH
It wasn’t groundbreaking work. I’m convinced that’s part of why it went so bonkers.
Nick Shirley’s video of Somali daycares and health care providers has eclipsed 140 million views on Twitter. I’m not even checking his YouTube, you get the point.
In journalism terms, it wasn’t anything snazzy. He just took a look at publicly available government payment records, saw who was getting paid, and visited their business to see if it looked legit. That’s it. He knocked on doors and asked questions.
There was no real confirmation of one thing or another. Did the business look real? That was the only question, and the answer in almost every case was decidedly no.
Enter liberal media. Their reaction to this story has been something else. The phrase “you can’t hate them enough” doesn’t even come close.
With all the resources they have that Shirley doesn’t, the billions of dollars, the investigative heft, the highly paid reporters, how did they attack the story? By attacking Nick Shirley, a 23-year-old kid with a YouTube page and a coupla cojones.
CNN confronted Shirley on the street. (He was hilariously wearing a newly printed hoodie depicting the “Quality Learing Center”.)
“How do you know the allegations you’re making are true?” says Whitney Wilson.
“We showed you guys what was happening, and you guys can go ahead and make your own analysis,” Shirley replied.
In other words: I trust normal people to see what I’ve shown on video and make up their own minds about what’s happening.
Wilson took a few approaches from this point. One was to play it off like these fraud investigations were old and already well known. As usual, the best lies are half truths. It’s true that there has been at least a little action to prosecute the fraud. Eighty or so indictments — great, right?
“Then why’d I show up, one day in Minnesota, go to all these daycares, no children, they’re receiving millions of dollars, we uncovered $110 million of fraud in one day,” Shirley replied.
This isn’t galaxy-brained stuff, Whitney. As Nick outlines, it’s still happening, and it’s right out in the open. Does prosecuting 80 previous murders negate the necessity to keep prosecuting murders?
CNN then aired a clip of Whitney “calling” the daycares Shirley visited. Only one picked up, and they assured her they were legit.
Case closed, Dear Reader!
They actually aired this video of her sitting in her hotel room calling daycares:
Really outstanding investigative chops, Whitney, you absolute doofus.
Throughout CNN’s reportage, they referred to Shirley as “MAGA influencer” and “right-wing” and “anti-immigrant,” all the typical flares you’d fire up if you wanted your viewers to focus on everything but the story.
Local media got in on the mix as well. The Minnesota Star Tribune, which is published by a former Walz appointee, reported that a government bureaucrat was assured the “Learing” center Shirley visited had previously already been closed.
Well, that ties a bow on that, no? No. The center called the bureaucrat back and informed her they decided to stay open. The next day, the center appeared to stage a “drop off” of children for local media to film.
The owner and daycare manager, a dude, did his best to play it off like nothing fraudulent was happening.
How normal is it for dudes to manage daycares? Lol. Basically every daycare profiled in his piece was managed, owned and staffed with dudes. Red flag much?
Onward.
The Intercept did an entire piece not even about the fraud, just about how Shirley was guilty of wrongthink. He had espoused “anti-immigrant” and “right-wing” views and dabbled in “conspiracies.”
Yikes. Well, in this case, I’m glad because it appears as if all these daycares have been maxing out contributions to Democrats. Weird, huh?
Never mind that; MSDNC wants you to pay attention to fraud in other places. This is basically made up. Trump is bad. The guest they had on to convey this message was Mara Gay, a member of the New York Times editorial board.
“[The Somali] community is being scapegoated in a way that serves the far right,” she said.
Or, stick with me now, Mara, the Somali lady in hijab sporting the six-carat diamond ring and stumbling over the phrase “fraud is bad” is actually a criminal, bilking taxpayers, and should be deported. Is it possible, Mara, that the guy (again lol) who owns a daycare and who stood in front of the press with $2,500 sunglasses and said his business was broken into and all the accounting and attendance records were stolen, is actually a criminal and should be deported?
Can you wrap your mind around that, Mara, or nah?
Probably not, actually. Gay is the absolute genius who appeared on MSDNC during the Democratic primary in 2020 and said Bloomberg’s $500 million ad campaign would have been better spent by giving each American a million dollars. I guess basic math isn’t a requirement at Journalism School, huh, Mara?
Her paper decided to refer to Shirley as a “self-described citizen journalist.”
“It’s obviously patronizing,” Nellie Bowles of Free Press wrote. “No title on earth, however illustrious, can survive being preceded by ‘self-described.’ Don’t you know, to do interviews with people, you need a journalist badge given by the secret society of journalism? Nick Shirley didn’t go to journalism school; someone confiscate his mic!”
You get the point, Dear Reader. You can’t hate these people enough.
The next question, however, is why. Why are they so determined to destroy Shirley and distract Americans?

News is now breaking on similar shenanigans in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts. Money streaming to fake daycares all over the place, getting chopped up, and sent back to Dems.
Super weird, huh? It’s almost like Democrats administering the law in these jurisdictions know the money is being well spent, eh?
And their media allies will happily attack a 23-year-old in order to cover it all up.
