It's A New Day: College Football Star Taking Visit To Current School After Entering Transfer Portal
And the transfer portal just got even wackier.
Grant Seagren plans to take an official visit to Oklahoma State as he explores his choices in the transfer portal. Although visiting a school to weigh options is a standard step for any player entering the portal, it’s noteworthy in this case because Seagren actually played for the Cowboys throughout the previous season.
Yes, you read that right. The sought-after offensive lineman is set to make an official visit to the very program he suited up for just a season ago.
A Nebraska native, Seagren launched his career at the tight end position. Rated as a two-star recruit coming out of high school, he didn’t land any scholarship offers and opted to join the University of Nebraska as a walk-on. When he first stepped on campus, he was still uncertain about which position he would ultimately play.
On his very first day of practice, the Cornhuskers decided to have him work with the offensive line group.
From there, the path forward for the 6-foot-6, 255-pound athlete shifted permanently to the tackle spot. Seagren opted for a redshirt year in 2023 to add the necessary mass for his position change, then saw action in seven contests during his redshirt freshman campaign in 2024. Following that, he entered the transfer portal for the very first time.
Seagren eventually chose to join Oklahoma State. The one-time walk-on who began as a tight end lined up in every contest for the Cowboys during the 2025 campaign at a listed weight of 311 pounds, emerging as a standout performer.
But after head coach Mike Gundy’s dismissal and the resulting instability around the Cowboys‘ program in Stillwater, Seagren opted to weigh his full range of choices for the 2026 season and stepped into the transfer portal a second time.
Seagren’s path through college football has been anything but ordinary, and it’s far from finished. According to On3, he stands as the second-highest-rated offensive tackle available in the transfer portal, with four programs currently vying for his commitment.
Over the coming week, Seagren has lined up three consecutive official visits, though the specific timing for his trip to Arkansas remains undecided. Among his scheduled stops is a return to the program he most recently played for.

Yeah, the transfer portal is a little crazy right now, but I like what this kid is doing … exploring his options and giving OSU a second chance.
