Why Are Sports Teams Celebrating Kwanzaa When Black Americans Are Into Christmas Like Rest Of Us?

First off, I hope everybody had a good Christmas, just wanted to say that as I start to shake off holiday mode as New Year’s approaches. But while I do that and while we’re still in the holidays, let me talk about something that quite frankly irks me.

So, while I was scrolling down my timeline earlier today on Twitter, I happened to see a sports team put up a post celebrating Kwanzaa. And then I saw two, then three, four, five, six, oh yeah, the Kwanzaa celebration was real Friday. You had NFL teams involved.

We had MLB teams involved.

Not shockingly, NBA teams were also posting away the nonsense.

Sadly, we even saw NHL teams post Kwanzaa celebrations.

For the love of God, we even had college athletic departments and minor league teams in the circus!

According to a study from Collage Group, only 18% of black Americans celebrate Kwanzaa, meaning that the other 82% are right there with the rest of us Americans celebrating Christmas. Ya know, Jesus’ birthday, and good for them!

So, I can’t help but to ask … what the hell are we doing, sports world?
