Needless to say, Sunday will be fun.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Wednesday that rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will make his first NFL start in Sunday’s road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, with starter Dillon Gabriel still sidelined in the concussion protocol. Shedeur, son of Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, entered the league as Cleveland’s fourth-string quarterback but has climbed the depth chart and will make his first NFL start in Week 12. When he takes the snap Sunday, Sanders will become the 42nd different quarterback to start for Cleveland since the organization was reborn in the city in 1999.

Selected with the 144th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders made his professional debut in the second half of the Browns‘ 23-16 home defeat against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday following Gabriel’s evaluation for a concussion at the half, ultimately being ruled out of the contest. Sanders’ relief duty was a struggle, going 4-of-16 for 47 yards with one interception and taking two sacks.

Here’s how Sanders reacted to the news:

I’ll personally be rooting for the kid to shut all of his haters up, who are annoying — do the damn thing, Shedeur!
