Former LIV Golf Player Becomes First To Get Back His PGA Tour Card
We have golf history, ladies and gentlemen!
Laurie Canter added a chapter to the books Sunday, becoming the first ex-LIV Golf player to regain a PGA Tour card after the Englishman secured a top-10 finish among non-exempt players in the final Race to Dubai standings.
This caps off a remarkable journey for Canter, who back in March had already become the first ex-LIV Golf player to qualify for The Players Championship. (RELATED: Nigeria’s Éric Chelle Accuses DR Congo Of Using Voodoo To Eliminate His Team From World Cup)
In 2022, Canter was an original member of Cleeks GC, but he was demoted to wild-card status for 2023. Just two events into the 2024 season, he was replaced by the league with Anthony Kim, forcing Canter to serve a full one-year waiting period before he could become eligible to regain his PGA Tour playing privileges.
“It’s been the year of my life,” Canter said Sunday, per Reuters. “I’m looking forward to playing the big events over on that side of the pond. Obviously looking forward to playing in all majors next year and playing against the best players in the world like we are this week. The standard is different when you’re playing against the best guys.”
After 20 starts and $5 million in earnings on LIV, Laurie Canter is headed to the PGA Tour.
